Lydian Mode

Major with a raised 4th (#4) — dreamy, ethereal, and floating. Often called the brightest mode, with an otherworldly suspended quality. Built from the 4th degree of the major scale, its step pattern is W – W – W – H – W – W – H; from F the notes are F – G – A – B – C – D – E. Like major (Ionian) with one alteration: #4. That single semitone removes the subdominant pull and creates a sense of levitation rather than resolution.
