Dorian Mode

Minor with a raised 6th (natural 6) — soulful, smooth, and less dark than natural minor. The quintessential jazz-minor and blues mode. Built from the 2nd degree of the major scale, its step pattern is W – H – W – W – W – H – W; from D the notes are D – E – F – G – A – B – C. Like natural minor (Aeolian) but with a natural 6 instead of a b6. The b3 and b7 give it a minor quality, but the natural 6th adds brightness and keeps the IV chord major.
